GGDC welcomes Ben Rich this month to our ever-growing & amazing list of collaborators. Ben is a fantastic lindy social dancer, performer, and lindy lift extraordinaire.... not to mention, he will soon break his second world record.. that's right- he will have TWO! I know.
We also would like to give a huge welcome to Matthew Donnell! We met Matthew at the Comedy In Dance Festival, dragged him all over Williamsburg to listen/dance to Baby Soda, and then...well.... google stalked him... Matthew is a beautiful dancer and wonderfully witty; once we saw the bow ties, we snatched him up. Matthew can now add Swing era dances to his impressive resume, which includes not just being a diverse dancer, but also actor, dance teacher, clown, balloon animal maker, and so much more!
GGDC would also like to congratulate Ray for his scholarship to Herrang, Brian starring in Shakespeare in the Park, and Shana for making it through her first year back in school! Hooray!
Thanks Ground Grippers for being so diverse, so funny, so much fun to work with, and just SOOO talented! I just love this group!
Recently, we performed our newest piece at Mohonk Mountain House - the perfect setting for this "spooky" fast Lindy. Mohonk is by far one of our favorite events of the year and one of the most magical places we've ever been. This year's line up was AMAZING! Thank you Jeni Breen for organizing this fantastic showcase! All the dancers below host events, teach lessons and perform in the NYC area. Look them up for more information : )
The performance included:
Erin Fairman & David Huang - Salsa
Jeni Breen & Stefan Zawaistowki- Tango
Jessi Patz & Felix Pitre - Swing (picture to the left)
Lisa Uribe & Slaveyko Baylov - Waltz
Gene Eagle - sound
Roddy Caravella and the Canarsie Wobblers spent the evening dancing the night away to Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra.
After performing for Dumbo Dance Festival, Ground Grippers Dance Company was asked to perform some swing for a music video! AWESOME!!!!
V-Day (the grassroots movement to end violence against women and girls that grew out of Eve Ensler's play The Vagina Monologues) is celebrating its 15th anniversary with the OBR campaign. Please visit this link to learn more – as you will see dance is at its core!
Someone post this of Sam and Malcolm and I found it : )
